Born October 29, 1921 Bill Mauldin went through WW2 with a sketch pad. His cartoons of “dogface” GIs Willie and Joe were a popular feature of the “Stars and Stripes” military newspaper, winning him a Pulitzer Prize. Mauldin’s sly humor infuriated Gen. Patton but Gen.
