Spine-Tingling History Between 1896 and 1897 numerous sightings of a mysterious airship or airships were reported in local newspapers throughout the United States. Besides seeing unexplained moving lights some claimed to have even heard singing as the unidentified flying object flew by them. (Inspiration for the vocalizations by the soprano in the opening theme for Star Trek? ♂️) Even more bizarre was a report near Springfield, Missouri of the ship’s pilots who supposedly appeared to be a man and woman wearing no clothing.
