‘Twas the night before Christmas’ begins the poem ‘A Visit from St. Nicholas’, first published on December 23, 1823 in the ‘Sentinel” newspaper in Troy, NY. The poem was published anonymously but is attributed to Clement Clark Moore, a professor of Biblical learning.’

Dick Weber, one of the all-time great ten pin bowlers and a founding member of the Professional Bowlers
Association (PBA) was born on December 23, 1929. He first gained recognition as a member of The Budweisers bowling team in 1955 then went on to amass 30 major titles in PBA events.

Scott’s Run, West Virginia. Miner’s child – This boy was digging coal from mine refuse on the road side. The picture was taken December 23, 1936 on a cold day; Scott’s Run was buried in snow. The child was barefoot and seemed to be used to it. He was a quarter mile from his home.
