On September 6, 1958, stand-up comedian, television host, and author Jeff Foxworthy was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Drawing on Southern working-class life, family dynamics, and regional culture, Foxworthy developed a highly successful observational-comedy style and became widely known for his signature “You might be a redneck” routine.
Foxworthy’s accessible, largely clean humor helped bring country-themed comedy into mainstream popular culture in the late twentieth century. He later joined Bill Engvall, Ron White, and Larry the Cable Guy for the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, a hugely successful franchise that expanded from arena performances into concert films, television, and other media. The tour helped make blue-collar, character-driven stand-up a major commercial force in the early 2000s.
