The Midnight Session at Sun Records - Heartfelt History™

The Midnight Session at Sun Records

On July 5, 1954, a young Elvis Presley stepped into Sun Records and recorded his electrifying version of “That’s All Right,” launching his career and reshaping global popular culture.

The recording happened entirely by accident. After hours of uninspired takes, Elvis began fooling around with an old blues tune at a frantic tempo. Sam Phillips heard the energy through the control‑room glass, flipped the tape machine on, and told the musicians to start from the top—capturing lightning in a bottle.
